Hi Anton, You've elevated the punchline-marking sting ("ba-dum-bum-TSSS", which I think most folks call a rimshot) to an art form. My question: is there an accepted proper way to play it? i.e. Should it be "tom-kick-kick-CRASH", or "kick-tom-rim", or what have you? Or is the number of beats, and the specific drums used, just an individual preference? Cheers. |

I always thought the basic figure was a three beat figure - 2 sixteenths and a quarter note [the quarter note being the downbeat]. The 2 sixteenths are on the snare, the quarter note is bass drum and crash [bagadish] - This is not anything 'official' or 'proper'- just what I thought it was - and then I started embelishing and making variations from there. Have I overexplained it..... |

Have I overexplained it..... No, not at all. That's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks Anton. |
