I just got a new 20" ride, which I like, except that the wash lasts too long. I hope that makes sense, I just started playing about 2 months ago so I know close to nothing. Anyway, I heard (and have seen quite a bit) that if you put tape on the cymbal you can get rid of some of the wash. Is this true? And if so, what kind of tape? Does it matter? Thanks for any help!

You can use any kind of tape - maybe start with masking - if you use too much you will kill the sound of the cymbal completely - so be sparing.........
