I cant seem to get the 'Perfect Drum Roll'. My left hand constantly lets me down. Starting with 'mummy daddy, mummy daddy' increasing speed, keep it going, sounds O.K. Oh no I've lost it. I keep cheating & getting into bad habits. It's the same with 'Triplets' round the kit. I always start with my 'kick' foot, go round the kit & then find trouble getting back into groove, 'cause I've come out on the wrong hand. Usually the left, being the weaker. Aarrgghh!! Help. Cheers, Christian.

Hey Christian,
FIrst off, I would say to practice your rolls with a metronome. There are lots of rudimental warm-ups out there like the infamous "chicken and a roll" or "digga-digga-bur". They are geared as marching excercises, but work great for imporving your rolls.

For the triplet kick pattern, i would also suggest practicing with a metronome. In fact, just practice everything with a met. I got so much better when I started using one regularly. But anyway, start with a met and keep the triplets on the snare and bass. As you get more comfortable, then go ahead and move around the kit. Hope this helps!!!
Later guys.
Matt

Cheers Matt, I've been practicing with a metronome & although at first it seemed a little 'unnatural' I'm training my ear(s) to get used to it. I'm still wanting to speed up a bit, but of course; Pratice, practice, pratice. I'm getting better with the triplets. The only thing is now, choosing or rather listening to use them in the right places. Once again, Thanx!
